New creative home networking event voted a great success!

Last week we held the first Creative Home Networking Event and I am pleased to report that 60 creators and makers attended despite the drizzle and were rewarded with a very special morning that was enjoyable, useful and will be remembered for a while.

The simple idea is to bring together people who have an interest and part to play in creating lovely homes & gardens, whether for others or themselves:

  • At an intriguing venue
  • With knowledgeable speakers with ideas or skills to share
  • To connect with each other for business or pleasure
  • And also to give a little bit back to a worthwhile cause
We were blessed with an extraordinary private garden to hold this first event, a talk from the owner about his ideas and from the wonderful artist Sally Stafford about how to capture the colours of nature, illustrated by her work.

An amazing group of people came, including fabulous home-makers (some also advertising things that they do: accountancy, writing, cooking, musician…), designer-makers, furniture retailers, property finder, lighting designer, historian…and many more.
We raised £411 for The Victoria Foundation on the day, and many were inspired to walk Hadrian’s Wall next Summer to raise £22,000.
So now we are planning our next events. If you would like to suggest a venue, speaker, charity or be included on the invitation list please get in touch: debbie@thedecorcafe.com.
“I think it was very successful for us all to meet new people and hopefully forge new friendships”
“I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed all the different elements that made up a fantastic morning yesterday. There was a wonderful mix of interesting items and of course the garden was literally amazing…. it will stay in the memory a long time.”
“The mix of people was fabulous, a really great range (and the list of contacts for follow up very useful)
Although it was a networking event it didn’t feel like anyone was trying to sell or push themselves too much which is the most annoying thing at networking events (in my opinion!)”
“It was lovely to attend an event which was both thought provoking and appealed to the senses too”
Sally has generously offered that if you are interested in buying one of her beautiful paintings during June or July, please mention The Decor Cafe creative home making event and 20% of the purchase price will be given to The Victoria Foundation and 10% will be given back to you. www.sallystafford.com

  1. Such an inspiration! Enjoyed meeting everyone – a fab creative group of people. The gardens provided lots of ideas – although they will be implemented on a smaller scale!!
Many thanks for organising and am looking forward to the next one….
