Christmas Preparation

Christmas planning started a little early for me this year, as I am hosting my first decorclub Christmas Table Styling Class on Friday 13th December and what better place to find inspiration than a Christmas Fair.

This is my second year attending the Living North Christmas Fair at York Racecourse and not only is it a place to find locally sourced gifts, but for me it is an introduction to local designers and crafters who have a passion for design.

The traditional wreaths, fruit decorations, robins and natural woodland inspired decorations greeted me. I am a fan of the natural woodland look it can create a cosy & homely feel mixed with a bit of sparkle to create a slightly modern twist, and if you’re lucky enough to have an open fire this just finishes the look off.

As I was wandering round I met a local designer from Bridlington, Lauren Cherice Designs, who specialises in screen print accessories. Her collection of animal print cushions, towels and bags would make great home gifts for friends or a decorative addition to your home. My favourite design is the duck print, such a lovely little print.

One stall I had to revisit was Funky Country, a York based company who sell home fragrance from candles to diffusers. This year I invested in a spiced apple candle for a traditional Christmas scent for my home and a fruity addition of Raspberry & Pomegranate. Both create a beautiful & welcoming scent to my home. Last year I gave these away as gifts, this year they are my own treat.

Christmas adverts, magazines and local decorations are in full swing here, so I will light my spiced apple candle and proceed with the Christmas Table Styling Workshop preparation.
