Mural Design: Behind the Scenes with Anna Starling. 7th June (Wimbledon)

Anna Starling, 180

Murals are a wonderful way to add personality to your home, bringing your space to life, inside or out. Creating a mural design can transform ugly, awkward or just plain boring spaces, introduce wit and humour and add value to your home.

Anna Starling, founder and owner of Mural Design, invites us behind the scenes at her work studio in Wimbledon where she has been based for 13 years. Anna will inspire us with her ideas and examples of her mural designs, explain how she works with her clients, interpreting their ideas, give us an insight into how each of her projects starts out and evolves into the finished work, show us the sketches she does for each project (painted to scale) before each mural is undertaken and answer any questions you may have.

Date: 10.00am – 12 noon, Wednesday 7th June

Architects Home Tour with Aboriginal Art. 19th July. (Wimbledon)

SJ Home Tour 180

About This Home Tour: Hosted by SJ and Richard Holden we will have the opportunity to combine touring the whole of this stunning architect designed house with viewing a selection of Central Australian Aboriginal Art (Tingari Arts)

SJ and her architect husband, Richard, (Holden Harper) bought a standard 1950s developers box house on Parkside Avenue in the 1990’s and proceeded to transform it so that it has become an architectural icon, of much interest to anyone interested in residential design. The house has been completely turned around and re-orientated towards the south facing garden and remodelled to include double height spaces and references to the dramatic and hidden sources for lighting spaces in Baroque churches; influences from the work of John Soane are also evident in the entrance and  main living areas.

The interior and garden are full of fascinating works of art, in particular a wonderful collection of Aboriginal art from Central Australia, complemented by the striking use of colour, texture and materials throughout, including a number of different coloured ceilings.

Date: 7.30pm to 9.30pm  Wednesday 19th July

Members are welcome to invite guests.
