Charity

The DecorCafe Network and Strawberry Hill House Trust are working in partnership to raise funds:

  • to maintain Strawberry Hill House
  • to develop the outreach programmes run for organisations such as the Alzheimer’s Society & Paddock School
  • to support local charities and community groups

Strawberry Hill House: A spectacular hidden treasure, visiting Strawberry Hill is a truly theatrical experience. Created by Horace Walpole in the 18th century, Strawberry Hill is internationally famous as Britain’s finest example of Georgian Gothic revival architecture. It also inspired the first gothic novel The Castle of Otranto. The Strawberry Hill Trust, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, has recently undertaken a £9 million repair and restoration of Walpole’s villa including painstaking conservation of the renaissance glass.

Outreach Programmes: In addition to crafts events available to the whole community, the team at Strawberry Hill House offer targeted activities and courses for vulnerable groups in society. A relatively new initiative is the inclusion of a Feel Good Garden in the Grounds of Strawberry Hill House, working in collaboration with agencies such as the Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia Friends, Age UK, local care homes and housing partnerships to promote well-being and tackle isolation in the community.
