We are a unique collaborative network for your home & home business.
Our experts are generous in sharing their knowledge on our blog, at our events and workshops. All known to us personally, we are delighted to connect them to you.
Our online shop is new. We seek out beautiful original products from our network of local designers and makers and share them with you. The quality of the products, and the materials used are extremely important to us. We will be introducing natural and sustainable products wherever possible.
Home is at the Heart of Everything we do.
Debbie Blott’s career began at ICI Dulux, creating and launching new colour ranges, introducing the concept of non-glossy paint for woodwork, Satinwood, and developing retail colour strategies for companies such as John Lewis and B&Q. She developed a specialist interest in branding, and transitioned to creative consultancy to help companies to find and communicate their identity.
The idea for The Decorcafe started when her she travelled abroad with her three small children for her husband’s work. Moving house many times, she discovered first hand just how important it is to have a home that really suits you, where you can feel comfortable and happy, but that it can be hard to achieve.
“Home is an important part of your personal identity. People are happiest when the home that they live in is an extension of who they are and how they choose to live their life. We set up The Decorcafe to make it easier to achieve; building skills at our workshops and events and putting people in touch with the experts and original products they need.”
Beyond home and family, Debbie is passionate about helping people to start-up and run their own original businesses. The Decorcafe Business Club was formed to provide bite-sized training, marketing and networking for our experts and people running or setting up their own home business.
“The club is a wonderful mix of seasoned professionals running established companies through to people with an idea or just starting up. There is a great sense of community.”
Debbie is also the founder of “decorbuddi” a bite-sized approach to interior design making it easier for people to create more personal homes.
Emma Mitchell is a lawyer but, like many of our community, took the opportunity to reassess her career following a career-break to raise her four children. Her meticulous attention to detail is a fantastic asset, coming to the fore when organising our events and workshops. Her greatest strength is her un-stinting support for all our community.
Sally Bocquet attended The Decorcafe Business Club with a view to setting up a business of her own, The Video Message Company, which she has now done. Sally was inspired to set up her own branch of the Business Club in Thames Ditton, Surrey.
Sally’s business background is in TV. Starting her career at Channel 4 she went on to work on shows such as Blind Date, This is Your Life and Big Breakfast and later started her own highly successful casting company, Get Real Casting LTD.
