More About Delia

Delia had her own successful practice for many years, built up on a referral basis.  She then took a career break to pursue other interests, but decided that this is what she really enjoys and so is back up and starting again.  She has a number of clients, again through personal referrals, but now that their accounting solutions are in place, has freed up capacity to take on new clients and has recently invested time in building a network of specialist professionals with whom to work to provide additional support as necessary.

She works with a range of people with different business structures, from sole traders to audited companies to complicated family groups.  Some clients prefer to hand over all accounting requirements so they can get on with what they’re good at.  Some clients want to retain more control and her role has been to set up the processes and procedures to enable them to complete the tasks with which they are comfortable and for her to do the extras.  Everyone is unique and every business is unique.  The goal is to leverage off the functions that can be streamlined and standardised to cut costs, but to accommodate what makes a person or business special.

Modern accounting packages and now cloud-based products make data entry a much simpler process, however the set-up and controls are important, as is compliance with legal and taxation requirements, including MTD (Making Tax Digital).  That aside, business owners need information to make the right decisions so accurate, timely and insightful reporting is key to the success of any enterprise.  Well established businesses too, benefit from a review and fresh look at how things are done.

The areas with which she can provide support include:

  • Establishing what trading entity is most suitable – sole trader, limited company or partnership
  • Business Plans
  • Registering a new company or updating details with Companies House
  • Identification and installation of an appropriate accounting and payroll package. Training on how to use the packages.
  • Preparation of Annual Financial Statements and Corporation Tax computations and submission in iXBRL format to Companies House and HMRC
  • Vat returns, including readiness for MTD coming in April 2019
  • Personal Tax, including optimal business profit extraction

She personally identifies with the idea of small business owners growing and succeeding by helping each other for mutual success and is passionate about providing support to other small businesses.
