About Stay Wild Flowers
Stay Wild Flowers is a new company founded by London florist, Karen Hawkins in response to the demand that Karen has seen for fresh, looser more natural flowers. Flowers that look as if they were just picked and popped in a vase. “I like flowers to look wild and free flowing. I can do tight, formal displays, but I take more pleasure from flowers that are more naturally presented even though, ironically, it can be harder to achieve, and it seems to be what others like too. If, for example, I do an arch for a wedding I want it to look as though it has grown quite naturally rather than been plonked into place.”
Creating beautiful, natural displays requires the traditional techniques and skills that florists used to employ. “When I first started we would have used moss and wire and traditional techniques to create a floral arch, rather than masses of floral foam”. Stay Wild Flowers is about a return to the basics. A crafted approach to creating beautiful, natural flowers with a little bit of attitude.
We Love Stay Wild Flowers Because…
Karen is a natural florist. She loves what she does and her enthusiasm is contangious. Totally involved in her business, Karen is always sligtly ahead of the curve creating imaginative displays that have a little bit of attitude, a slight edge. She is also 100% in tune with The Decorcafe ethos of protecting our precious environment wherever possible and has moved away from using floral foam which isn’t bio-digradeable.
More About Stay Wild Flowers
Karen always had a passion for flowers even as a child and as soon as she got the opportunity, when her children were small (now in their mid twenties) she started doing a weekly course at Barnes Library. This was the beginning and more prestigious courses followed, with Judith Blacklock and Paula Pryke. Friends and family started requesting flowers for gifts and events and gradually what started as a hobby became a small business.
Stay Wild Flowers provides flowers for weddings and events, weekly arrangements for homes, offices and shops. Karen dresses entire houses for special occassions and Christmas, styles tables for parties, supplies and delivers flower gifts and runs workshops to pass on her skills.
