Sam runs her upholstery business from her workshop in her garden in Twickenham, where she brings all kinds of furniture – both antique and modern – vibrantly to life by reimagining, reviving and reupholstering.
About Sam Daglish & Studio 52
Sam’s fashion background and love of fabric design and colour most definitely influences her approach to upholstery.
“Furniture is like fashion for your home – it should reflect your style and personality and make you feel good! Like fashion, the perfect combination of proportions and fabric can turn an item of furniture from merely functional to utterly fabulous! “
Her projects range from total strip down and reupholstery of large sofas to making small accent scatter cushions and everything in-between, she has even re-covered Roberts radios! She takes inspiration from her clients, looking for cues on colour and design through the focal points in their home, such as a piece of art, or the period features such as fireplaces. She says “There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing someone start to fall in love with something they already own by helping them reimagine it in a beautiful new fabric!”
What we love Sam Because …
Sam is a passionate admirer of craftsmanship of all kinds and loves collaborating with other makers and designers to create beautiful things. She regularly works with fellow decorcafe expert Rebecca J Mills for bespoke printed fabrics for truly unique pieces. A recent upholstery project of Sam’s using one of Rebecca’s fabrics is soon to be featured on a TV show! Exiting times!
More About Sam & Studio 52 Creative
Sam’s ‘Chair Foundling Programme’ is for chairs left abandoned on the street. She repairs and reupholsters them with remnants from previous jobs and then donates them to local charities or furniture schemes. This supports her business ethos on several levels – firstly, it’s about contributing to her local community. Secondly, it’s saving something from going into landfill (1.5 million tonnes of furniture end up in UK landfill each year), and lastly, its shows people that modern furniture need not be so disposable – with a bit of imagination and a little bit of fabric, the possibilities are endless…
If you have a project in mind – whether it’s revamping your dining chairs from brown leather to blush velvet, making a bold statement with a leopard print on an old sofa, or even giving your garden furniture some love with palm printed outdoor fabric, Sam offers an individually tailored service to each client, helping them to transform spaces in their homes.
